A laser gas generator for a high power dynamic CO2 gas laser, is driven by using nitrous oxide, benzole and nitrogen. It forms a compact lightweight unit with the laser gas emerging as a widening jet in one direction. The benzole fuel is injected via a centrally fitted fuel nozzle (3) along the axis of a cylindrical combustion chamber (2). The oxidising nitrous oxide is injected concentrically to the benzole jet via oxidation nozzles (4). The ignition unit (11) is located at the plane where the nitrous oxide penetrates the benzole. The nitrogen is injected into the combustion chamber downstream, and the laser gas is then fed to the distributor.
