An installation for the cutting of the edges of a material track, particularly of paper or cardboard, uses adjustable lateral circular blades in pairs. The upper and lower blades forming the one circular blade pair are laterally displaceable by means of a common drive during the operation of the main paper machine. The upper blade is axially guided on the lengthened arm of a guide roller, and the lower blade is located in a slide which can move in a guide arranged parallel to the guide roller. The blade body of the upper blade is cylindrical and the outer diameter of this blade is equal to that of the guide roller. The cylindrical part of the upper blade has one or more ring-shaped cutting grooves.
