摘要
The source has a housing contg. a discharge zone where at least the side of zone is formed by a wall made of a Cu-w alloy and used as one of the two electrodes. The zone has a gas inlet, and two coaxial capillaries, one being the discharge capillary, whereas the other forms the outlet for the ultraviolet light. The zone is pref. cylindrical, with the capillaries located in opposite ends, and where wall forms part of an inverted cup used as the cathode. Above the cup is a gas inlet chamber contg. a circular row of holes via which gas is fed into the discharge zone round the end of one capillary. The other capillary pref. contains an anode peg or wire made of Ta or Mo. Used e.g. to obtain line spectra from atoms with high ionising potential, such as He, Ne, Ar, H2.
