The security mounting for the vehicle licence plate has the plate and its backing plate secured to the vehicle by special bolts with one way slots (10) on the outside and with security nut (19) on the rear, to lock onto the thread. Any attempt to remove the nut breaks the shear link (20) to leave a smooth nut on which the tools have no purchase. The one way slots are angled so that the screw can only be tightened. To remove the plate bolts are cut out with a hole saw, damaging the plate so that it is replaced by a new one.
