The shelving unit is for stocking large numbers of flat articles for sale in rows next to, behind or on top of each other, consists of shelves, space pieces and insertion trays. The unit incorporates slide grooves which are pressed by pressure pieces from behind against the retainers in the compartments of the horizontal insertion trays. The pressure pieces consist of spiral springs or an elastic band. The slide grooves have a stop piece which rests in slits in the base of the insertion tray. All the components are made of plastic and can be assembled and dismantled easily.
