The plastic housing has a metal or plastic retaining arm which is held in close contact with the spectacles by an e.g. rubber tube. The housing has holes in which the retaining arm is a tight fit. It also contains the battery, retained by a flat spring. The retaining arm and spectacles may be replaced by a curved retaining arm made from metal or plastic tube, which fits around the upper part of the ear.
