The absorption heat pump of the main patent has a gas burner (2) heating a driver (1) with a mixture of ammonia and water. Inside the chimney (4) are heat exchangers (12, 21). In series with the upper waste gas heat exchanger (12) is a further heat exchanger (10) for a temperature changer (9), interconnected with an absorber (16) and a condenser (23) in a circuit with a pump (18). This system is connected back to the driver by a primary line (7) of a heat exchanger (9) in parallel with the latter circuit. This is bridged by a by pass line (77) with its flow controlled by a temperature sensor (79).
