The artificial leg is particularly for fitting over the thigh, its portion enclosing the stump comprising two dishes bearing against each other via elastic strips and held together by locking clamps. The strips each comprise a hollow profiled section of soft rubber, with two ribs whose protruding ends are joined to the dishes, while there are a number of transverse ribs between them. Each locking clamp comprises a me tal strip bent round the outside of the artificial leg, and with a flat sleeve on one end fitting over the other end. A grub screw is situated inside the sleeve, alongside the narrow edge of the inserted strip end. This engages in a thread cut in the sleeve, and acts against a lug on the inserted end.
