The liquid fuel burner with ultrasonic atomisation has the ultrasonic vibrator (4) mounted centrally in the constricted (2) downstream end of an air duct (1) housing a blower (3), with the downstream-pointing vibrating surface perpendicular to the duct axis. Fuel in metered quantities is fed into this surface via a central orifice, (11). An annular plate (7) fixed to the duct face projects sideways into the air discharge annulus (6) between the vibrator and duct, forming an oscillating lip. The plate may be flat or have an upstream-pointing flange, e.g. with longitudinal slots around its inner rim.
