A safety insert for a tubeless tyre in which a segmented ring is clamped to the inside of the wheel rim and offers a safety support rim under the tread, to support the tyre after a blowout. The user is able to drive slowly to a garage, with adequate support even on cornering. The clamping ring is designed to fit conventional wheel rims and tyres, without any modifications. It provides a simple and economic safety protection. The support rim is spaced sufficiently to allow the tyre to flex with normal loads.
