The exchange signals that there is a waiting call to one of the subscribers. It includes devices sending charge pulses to the called subscriber. When a call is waiting, charge pulses are sent to the required subscriber. They are fed in the internal connecting circuit like in a normal subscriber line with a permanently allocated charge meter. There is a receiver for these pulses at the respective subscriber station, which operates an optical and/or an acoustical signal.
