A matrix printer providing characters with a format of 'm' points in a line and 'n' points in column uses multiple printing heads to allow simultaneously printing of points within a column of different positions. The intention is to eliminate or minimise the distortion that may occur during character reproduction. In comparison with prior art devices using a single head based upon a fixed number of printing devices mounted in a single line, the unit is based upon multiple heads operating at different locations in relation to the text. The use of the multiple heads provides the possibility for printing actuator operation according to a more uniform pattern. The printing head actuator for the matrix are spaced at constant intervals within the specific line.
