A plant for the hot forming of thermoplastic foils or sheets e.g. of propylene, consists of a first pass-through heating section, pref. ascending with heating elements on both sides, followed by a descending cooling section. The strand then enters the horizontal main heatin section before it is passed to the hot forming station. This plant ensures a more uniform temperature distribution across the thickness of the strand and therby a more uniform higher quality of the formed product.
