recovery from smoke or roaster gas also contg. other constituents is carried out by cooling in regenerators where the gas is cooled to max. the dew point of SO2, followed by freezing in reversible freezers. A high SO2 yield is obtd. with low energy consumption. After charging with solid SO2, the supplies of refrigerant and then of gas are switched off and a heating liquid is passed through the refrigeration system. During the thawing phase, the frozen constituents are removed in vacuo.
