The wind turbine has a two-armed mast (4), which can pivot in a vertical direction about its rotational axis. One arm of the mast carries the turbine wheel (6), the other arm carrying a counter-weight, with two vertical wind vanes (7) behind the turbine wheel (6), also serving to guide the wind currents. Pref. the mast (4) is angled at 45 degrees to the horizontal in its working position and it is attached to the top of a support pylon (1) via a rotary bearing (2. 3). It pivots through 90 degrees into the stowed position under control of a hydraulic cylinder (8).
