A textile drying machine, partic. for jersey fabric, comprises a drying chamber traversed by a pair of perforated conveyor belts arranged one above the other with a gap between them to form a tunnel through which the fabric passes, suspended between streams of air which issue from two series of transverse slots, one above and one below the perforated belts, to produce oppositely directed but staggered air currents which ebb and flow in unison. The slots are arranged in pairs, each pair having a rocking vane which alternately opens and closes each of the slots in opposition to the opening and closing of the neighbouring slots in the same row and the facing slot in the opposite row. The material is dried completely free from tension, in conditions which promote maximum relaxation and shrinkage, enhancing the finish and improving the quality.
