Vertical bandsaw for cutting logs - has blade which can tilt when commencing cut to reduce cutting area and prevent twisting

The log (18) bandsaw has a vertical blade (5) running over two flywheels (2, 3) mounted in a chassis (1). This latter can be tilted forwards at an angle when commencing sawing, to reduce the initial cutting area (19) and prevent twisting of the blade. After the blade has buried itself in the cut, the chassis can be brought upright again to complete the operation. The chassis is mounted on pivots (7a, 7b) near its base and is connected to a reversible electric motor and gearbox (10) by means of a connecting link (13) and an eccentric disc (12). The tilt may be controlled manually, or automatically with sensors or probes.
