AC cable with superconductor divided into sections - has screen of superconducting material and phase conductor with underlayers for stability

The sectionalised AC cable has a superconductor, a thermal insulation shield and a screen made from a superconductor, which has a stabilising underlayer. There is also a phase conductor with coaxially mounted strands. One strand of the phase conductor or consists of a superconductor with an underlayer. The stabilising underlayer (5) of each section (15) of the phase conductor (2) and the stabilising underlayer (8) of the screen (7) are formed by localised sections (10) of a stabilising material. The sections are separated by a material with a lower electrical conductivity. The effective ohmic resistance of the stabilising underlayers along each section exceeds the inductive resistance of the phase conductor along that section.
