An existing appts. for controlling motor vehicles is modified so as to provide the driver with a four mote display. A rotary switch (1) connects four function lights (A) to (D) to the vehicle tachometer via a switch (2). A switch (8) mounted in the drivers seat and a manometric switch actuated by engine oil pressure act to extinguish the lamp (A) and the audio alarm (9) when a driver is present in the driving slot and the engine is running.
