The prefabricated inter-joist unit is placed between two joists which hold it in position, to form an insulated floor infill unit. An insulating sheet is placed on top of it, and covering cast on top of this. The two side edges of the inter-joist unit have lengthwise grooves each constituting a support surface on the joist. Two lengthwise flanges protrude above the upper surface on each side. Each flange is positioned straight opposite a groove, and is for guiding and holding the insulating sheet. Each side surface of the inter-joist unit between the top flange and the groove support surface is concave so as to form a space which can be filled between the joist and the inter-joist unit. The inter-joist unit is made of compressed concrete with cellular structure, and is produced in a mould.
