Depositing silver film on plastics - using intermediate varnish layer to improve film adhesion

A silver film is deposited on a plastics maerial by degreasing and throughly scouring the surface of the material, applying a varnish which is compatible with the plastics and then depositing an Ag film on the surface by usual methods. Good and durable adhesion between the Ag film and the plastics surface is achieved. The film is homogenous and of constant thickness.
