The fernoro-patellar prosthesis comprises a contained metal cap which fits over the end of the fernur and co-operates with a natural or prosthetic pattela connecting the quadriceps muscle to the libia via the rotulian ligament. The base of the cap is in the shape of an arc of a circle with the upper section extending into a flatter curve. The two articulating wings of the cap are asymmetric and are divided by a curved groove, which co-operates with a complementary ridge on the patella. The prosthetic patella is made of polyethylene and has a generally rectangular plane view.
