The loading shovel (1) is mounted on a pair of loading brackets (4) and actuated by a hydraulic jack connected to the central bracket (8). The jack enables the shovel to be tilted about a horizontal axis. The shovel carries two support arms (13) on the main brackets (4). The arms carry a horizontal shaft supporting a number of evenly spaced claws. The claws are opened or shut by means of two further jacks (3), also mounted on the same brackets.
