The vehicle has four axles with two or four drive wheels, each controlled independently by chains, pinions and gearing. Two wheels regulate the tension in the two notched drive belts which enable the vehicle to travel over flat ground, up or down an incline or up and down stairs. The belt is supported on an array of small rollers mounted on floating axes which ensure that the belt is kept on contact with the ground. The belt is prevented from slipping by guide plates placed on either side of the support rollers.
