The washing unit has a trough with a top cover incorporating spray nozzles and a further manual spray nozzle at the front of the trough. The washing liquid passes from the trough through recirculation filters, to a pump resupplying it to the nozzles. A press responsive device (39) detects the difference in level of the washing before and after the filter, to provide a display (45) when this difference exceeds a given value, during operation of the unit. Pref. this device has a resilient membrane (40) operating a switch (42) for actuating the display (45).
