PURPOSE:To facilitate an easy decision for the life time of the nickel-cadmium accumulator during the charging, by detecting via the resistor the current which increases when some of the single-cells of the accumulator end their life time and in the form of the potential drop component. CONSTITUTION:The current is supplied from the commercial power source and then charged to nickel-cadmium accumulator 4 via transformer 1, rectifying stack 2, resistor 3 and others. In this case, the charging current of accumulator 4 increases greatly when some of its single-cells end their life time and has the internal short circuit. And it is hard to detect the increment on the current by the same ammeter, and accordingly DC voltmeter 5 is connected across resistor 3 to detect the current increment in the form of the potential drop component. This potential drop component is compared with the potential drop component at the limit of the life time for accumulator 4 as a whole. Thus the life time is decided. In such constitution, the life time can be decided easily under the charging state.
