1507946 Screw press for extracting liquids USINE DE WECKER Sarl 4 Sept 1975 [15 May 1975] 36489/75 Heading A4C [Also in Division B 1 ] A screw press for extracting water, juice, oil or other liquids comprises a pair of screws 1, 2 which project into a filter housing 3 formed of porous permeable sintered metal comprised of spheres, powder, granules or fibres and preferably of steel or Cr-Ni-Mo-steel alloy, the housing being cylindrical and having projections which are engaged by supporting ribs 14 within a surrounding liquid collecting vessel 9. A discharge channel 10 at the bottom of the ribs leads to a valved discharge pipe 11 through which steam can be supplied to clean the housing by reverse flow. The space between the housing and collecting vessel is closed by annular end plates which support the housing both radially and axially. The screws are driven by a motor 4 and pass through a reception space 5 for the material to be pressed, the outlet end of the housing being adjusted in cross-section by a throttle 7.
