In conjunction with automatically coupled centre buffer couplings on railway rolling-stock, provision is made for selectively uncoupling, eliminating accidental uncoupling, and switching shunting settings on and off. - One cylinder (13), with two-way piston (16), is fitted at each vehicle end, to activate the bolting system, together with one or more similarly-pistoned (17,18) cylinders (14,15) to activate stop components via control leads (7-12) opening into the cylinders. These are connected to a compressed-air lead (6) connected to a motor-driven (1) compressor (2). Remote-control valves (27-32) operate one or more stop components in the control leads, and briefly open venting positions for one-sided piston action. The valve (27) for control of the first cylinder in the uncoupling direction is held open for the duration of the coupling's shunting setting.(DS)
