Foam plastics pipe insulating shells are produced by filling two juxtaposed metallic foils which are moved continuously and deformed into semi-circular shells and covering the foils with a tape during foaming and setting process. Appts. has an endless belt deformed into a pair of juxtaposed shells supported 3 spaced elongate guides along their marginal edges for filling with PCD foam from a mixing head. To prevent spilling of the foam during foaming and setting the shells are covered by a run of endless belt. Following setting the foam is milled by milling tool to produce the shells. Shells of different dia. can be mfd. continuously without a mould.
