Increased load capacity of a rotary anode X-ray tube as well as improved reliability and smooth running at high speed are due to the centre of he anode connected to outer ball bearing race by a tubular shaft. The inner race of the bearing is held by tube (19) acting as a pump connector through its opening into the tube chamber while vacuum-sealed from abienace. It facilitates the evacuation of the tube while the use of the copper for the tube simplifies fabrication. Improved cooling is achieved by use of a heat sink of carbon of zirconium-graphite which additionally acts as a getter for gas absorption. The graphite layer (17) of anode disc (16) decreases the thermal load of local point trajectories (12, 13).
