Mesh application between two sheaths of cable - has band mesh wrapped around warm extruded cable by former and second sheath extruded immediately

Method of applying a mesh layer in a cable between two sheath coatings is described. The mesh is supplied from a drum into a wrap around former through which the cable passes. The cable passes through the first heated extruder so that the first sheath is still warm when it passes through the former wrapping the banded mesh around it. Immediately after the wrap is completed the cable enters the second heated extrusion unit so that the second sheath is applied. Finally the cable is cooled. The banded mesh is fed into the former between two tubes so that the cable comes through the centre tube to combine with a spread mesh around the cable and pull it to elongate the mesh onto the cable at reduced dia.
