The system is intended for independent moving target destruction by missiles, by a missile launcher actuated by a radio signal, or acoustic level detector responding to the moving target noise level. By use of a Doppler laser radar, the laser beam picks up automatically the moving target and this beam, following the target, is simultaneously used as a guide beam for the missile. The automatic launcher (10) of the missile (13) receives an advance trajectory information via the ratio or acoustic level link. The target indentification is obtained by the sighting Doppler spectra, or from the detected Doppler signature. The guide beam deviation provides the homing of the missile onto the moving target (12), while simultaneously the laser system (11) provides an active IFF (identification friend-or-foe) facility. Preferably a carbon dioxide waveguide laser is used with heterodyning reception in an optical sensor (11a).
