The pen recorder mechanism has an ink reservoir container mounted in a stationary part of the recorder and connects to the pen via a flexible capillary tube. A simply constructed easily manufactured reservoir is used which ensures a uniform position-independent large volume supply of ink to the pen. The reservoir consists of a coiled tube (1) with one end (1a) connected to the capillary tube (4) and its other end (1b) open to the atmosohere. The coiled section is placed in a coil holder (2) which is attached to a mounting point (3) on the stationary frame (7). The ends of the tube are connected to the capillary (4) and a pressure equaliser (8) tubes via a plug-in connector assembly. The reservoir tube is of transparent polythene with 1.25 mm. inner dia. and 0.5 mm. thick walls.
