Capacitor, esp. an electrolytic, of the metal canister type has pressure release cut-outs in the canister rim to ensure a good seal when the elasticised top is inserted into the capacitor canister. The top rim (11) of the canister (2) has one or more 'V' cut-outs (14) for pressure release purposes when the rim is folded over to hold the elasticised (9) and insulating (8) top seals of the capacitor around the centre, positive electrode (5,6) leading to the internal capacitor element (3,1). If the internal pressure increases, the top seals (8,9) lift from the canister crimped inner support ledge (10) and the fold-over channel (13) leading to 'V' cut-outs (14) acting as a pressure equalisation channel.
