Immunofluorescent assay method employs a homogeneous suspension of water insoluble hydrophilic polymeric particles having a size of 0.1-10 mu, pref. 5 mu. The antigen (or hapten) or antibody, to be determined is covalently bonded thereto in aq. soln. A fluorescently labelled antigen or antibody corresponding to that to be determined is then immunologically bound to the particles. The particles are subsequently sepd. from the aq. soln. and their fluorescence measured in an aq. suspension.
