Plastic tube passage through fire barrier wall - with foam forming sleeve in non-flammable bulkhead plate

Plastic pipes, used for pneumatic post, ventilation and other purposes, must receive extra protection where they pass through fire barrier walls. The plastic tube itself is coated by a foam layer forming mat inside a metal sleeve. The sleeve is anchored in a bulkhead plate, made of non-inflammable material (mineral fibre slabs). The outer surface of the bulkhead plate and all joints are trowelled over with a fire protection compound which forms an insulating layer. This ensures full safety against spreading a fire even when the fire barrier wall has been traversed by a pipe subsequently to its erection.
