Missile head with hollow charges - has preliminary charge axis offset from that of main charge

The missile head comprises a main hollow charge and a preliminary one preceding it and clear of it in order to eliminate any protective devices in its path. In order to avoid interference with the point of the main charge by the perforation passage of the preliminary one, the preliminary charge or charges (6) have the axes of their casings offset and parallel to that (4) of the main charge (2) or inclined to it. The inclination can be in a vertical, horizontal or inclined plane. The axes can intersect at the seeker head.
