Self-propelled, invalid transport vehicle - has ramps for wheelchair at rear of passenger platform and driving controls at front

The vehicle (1) comprises a wheeled chassis (3) carrying a propulsion drive and steering controls with a passenger space defined by a platform for reception of a wheelchair (9). Ramps (7) are provided at the rear of the platform for access of the wheelchair (9) and the steering wheel (10) and driving controls (11) are positioned at the front of the platform for operation by the invalid seated in the wheelchair (9). Pref. the ramps (7) are retractable into a reception space defined between upper and lower plates of the double skinned platform base. Pref. the vehicle has an electric drive supplied by rechargeable batteries and it is equipped for road use. The chassis (3) may carry a housing enclosing the platform to provide weather protection. The vehicle allows independent mobility for invalids confined to a wheelchair.
