Excavator with jib position indicating model - has flow counters in jib ram pipes controlling model jib position

The excavating machine has a cabin mounted visual aid indicating jib orientation. The aid is useful when the bucket is buried, e.g. when dredging or operating in fluid soils, and significantly more economic than prior devices. The jib is hinged to the machine and is split into two by an intermediate hinge, with jib orientation being effected by hydraulic jacks and detected from the operator's cab. The detection gear comprises a volumetric flow counter in the feed pipe to a chamber in each jack. An indicator of each counter has a suitable transmission which transfers this flow data to corresponding components of a model jib in the control cabin.
