A dummy target to be launched from an airship or from an aircraft, to mislead a missile with an infra red tracking system by means of an ignition charge, has a set of combustible rings which are ignited, then discharged in succession so as to give a multiple number of ignition sources which makes tracking correspondingly difficult. A delay system is used to ensure that the combustible rings are not ignited immediately after the device has been launched, ejection being correspondingly delayed. The cylindrical casing houses the ignition and ejection systems and a pulse device which can be operated by remote control to actuate them.
