A constant proportion of an additional liq. is introduced into a liq. flowing in a flowline by a dosing pump, pref. of the reciprocating piston type, driven by a hydraulic motor whose working liq. is the liq. in the flowline. The liq. is tapped off the flowline and the additional liq. is injected by the dosing pump into the outlet from the hydraulic motor, the mixt. of liqs. being reintroduced into the flowline. The hydraulic motor is pref. of the vane type, with a rotor in which the vane slides mounted on a shaft carrying at its end an eccentric crank-pin which co-operates with the push-rod of the dosing pump piston. The vane rotates in a conchoidal cylinder and is kept inthe correct position w.r.t. the cylinder wall by a fixed axle parallel to but spaced from the rotor shaft. The axle is located on the generator circle of the conchoid, and fits into a slot at the midpoint of the vane. The device can be used for introducing doses of fertiliser or other treatment agents into irrigation water. The dosing rate is maintained constant by the device, which can be arranged to permit the rate to be altered to any desired value, regardless of the flow rate in the flowline.
