A machine for the setting of bead rings on the expanding assembly drum of pneumatic tyres consists of a carriage which can be moved on guideways and carries longitudinal rods on it uprights. These rods can be moved in the radial inward direction by power cylinders and carry pairs of grips for the bead rings. Each pair is sepd from the next by a cutting mechanism which remains outside the assembly drum during the cutting operation. Severl (three) pairs of bead rings can thus be set simultaneously, SO increasing the productivity. The whole design is simple and the combination of setting and cutting devices saves time resulting in a shorter cycle.
