A pressure sensitive copying material is produced by dispensing a chromogenic material in an aq. carboxymethyl-cellulose soln., adding Al nitrate to the soln. with stirring to cause pptn. of the CMC with entrainment of the oily soln., applying the resulting soln. on an intermediate sheet or support to form a coating which is then dried. The novel feature comprises replacing part of the CMC bya film-forming polymer latex, so that the dispersion has an increased solids content, but has after dilution for use ia viscosity less than 600 cps. and dries quicker on the sheet or support. Faster drying rate results in increased productivity.
