Controller compensating for reactive power in supply network - switches capacitors in and out under control of comparator

The comparator's reference is adjusted to the characteristics of the supply network's line. The target line is a function of the effective power and is extended by a central target area matched to the size of a capacitor and by upper and lower hysteresis areas of constant width. The two limits of the central target area act as tolerance limits for the reference after the start whilst during operation the lower limit of the target area and the upper limit of the upper hysteresis area act as tolerance limits when a capacitor has just been disconnected and the upper limit of the lower limit of the lower hysteresis area act as tolerance limits when a capacitor has been switched in.
