The pressure control valve for use in the hydraulic dual-circuit brake system of a motor car has a control lever (11) provided with indentations (28) acting upon respective tappets (12) associated with pistons in a housing (23). The lever is free to rock laterally by virtue of a ball and socket mounting (16,17). The amount of such lateral rocking is however limited by circular profile surfaces (37) abutting against an angle bracket (47) fixed to the housing. In this way, if the brake pressure on one tappet fails the control force exerted on the other tappet is increased in the shortest possible time.
