PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing operation efficiency of generators by providing a parallel running change-over switch in an automatic frequency controlling system for a main engine driven generator so that the dropping characteristics of the generator during independent or parallel running are altered. CONSTITUTION:An automatic frequency controlling system 4 for a marine engine driven generator 3 driven by a main engine 1, comprises a parallel running change-over switch X1 10 and a generated power detector 11. The change-over switch X1 10 is in its open state so that the controlling system 4 alone is operated during independent running of the main engine driven generator. Meanwhile, the change-over switch X1 10 is turned-on when the main engine driven generator 3 and an auxiliary engine driven generator 13 are driven in parallel so that generated power from the main engine driven generator 3 is negatively fed-back to a frequency signal deviation operating stage in the controlling system 4 for decreasing power for energizing an eddy current coupler 2 in dependence upon the generated power, thereby the main engine driven generator 3 is provided with dropping characteristics.
