摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain titled high-softening point resin suitable for the production of decorative laminates, etc., by reacting a mixture or precondensate of a polyhydric alcohol and a polycarboxylic acid with a monoester obtained from an OH group- containing (meth)acrylate and a dicarboxylic acid anhydride. CONSTITUTION:A monoester is formed from an OH group-containing (meth) acrylate and a dicarboxylic acid anhydride, e.g., maleic anhydride, and reacted with a mixture or precondensate of a polyhydric alcohol and a polycarboxylic acid at 150-250 deg.C in the presence of a polymerization inhibitor and in he absence of a solvent to obtain a (meth)acryl-modified polyester resin. This modified polyester resin, if necessary together with a vinyl monomer, can be cured by means of radicals, ultraviolet rays, electron beams or the like. EFFECT:It is possible to obtain a resin having a high degree of polymerization and excellent homopolymerizability without gelation. USE:Molding materials, FRP, coating materials, laminates, varnishes for electric wires.
