A device for feeding a charge into and discharging reaction gases from closed type electric melting furnace, comprising a piping supply system for feeding a charge into the furnace bath the electrode and having a main pipe extending directly into the furnace bath through the centre of the furnace roof and spaced at equidistance from the electrodes and an equal number of auxillary feeding pipes to that of the electrodes arranged by the side of electrodes and the said auxiliary feeding pipes being positioned diametrically opposite to main feeding pipe.. and a piping co-axial to the main pipe for discharging reaction gases from the space under the furnace roof.
