The screw cap is made from plastics and has an internal screw thread in its upper part and a skirt (26) forming its lower part. The bottle neck (23) has a conical region, below the screw thread (21), which terminates in a ridge (23a) with a shoulder (30) beneath its lower edge. The cap skirt is attached to the body of the cap by a number of small bridges (27). The lower edge (31) of the skirt is folded inwards and upwards so that it fits over the screw thread ridge and abuts against the shoulder with a snap action. This snap action locks the cap in position so that it can only be removed by applying a twisting force to the cap which is sufficient to tear the bridge ring.
