ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA novel method and device is provided herein for improvedstorage and recovery of low temperature thermal energy from a mass cap-able of storing such energy by heat exchange against a heat carryingmedium, e.g., in combination with a heat pump. The conduit system forthe heat carrying medium is arranged at the underside of a continuousbed which is placed on or in that mass, the latter being, e.g., a body ofwater, watery ground or solid ground. The bed is preferably a floatingplate construction of heat insulating material. Preferably at least partof the upper side of the bed is arranged to absorb solar radiation, whichenergy is transferred to the mass by washing the bed surface with waterfrom the mass or from another source. When used on water or wateryground, the bed may provide a support for, e.g., plantations, grounds forball sports, etc.
